The GreenLine® Every Drop…. Simply Pure.

PRESENTING THE NEW GENERATION IN TERTIARY WASTEWATER TREATMENT

DESCRIPTION

GreenLine™ is a photo-bioreactor that uses photosynthetic microorganisms for Tertiary wastewater treatment.   In this process, the photosynthetic microorganisms use sunlight to uptake nutrients and organic matter, making the GreenLine™ one of the most Energy efficient tertiary treatments on the market today.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

  • The GreenLine™ Treated Water is as clear as mountain springs
  • Total Recycling of Treated Water
  • Simultaneously removes in excess of 98% of Nutrients (Nitrogen & Phosphorous) *See table Below
  • Tertiary Treatment without complex bacterial processes
  • Extremely Low Energy Consumption: the system uses the sun as the main Energy source
  • Vertical installation for a reduced footprint
  • Lowest Operational  & Maintenance Costs due to the use of Automatic Controls
  • Removal of Heavy Metals & Recalcitrant Compounds

Conventional Tertiary Treatments
GreenLine™ Tertiary Treatment
GreenLine™ Comparison
Nitrogen < 10 ppm < 0.2ppm 5x Better than Conventional
Phosphorous < 2 ppm < 2 ppm 10x Better than Conventional

HOW IT WORKS

Each unit of the photo-bioreactor (LMMP or Linear matrix Multicell Photoreactor) is comprised of a set of tubular cells, as seen in the figure shown here. Each line of tubular cells has two connectors: one connected to the top and one to the bottom. The effluent to treat enters the unit through the recirculation pump and feeds the cells from the bottom collector in an upflow direction. The cells are arranged in vertical parallel which allows light, either artificial or natural, to reach the whole surface of the cells. Each of the cells is manufactured in a transparent material permitting the passage of light. wastewater tertirary treatment

The effluent from the secondary biological treatment (culture medium) is pumped to the first unit or module of the photo-bioreactor through the collector located at the base of the respective unit and is distributed simultaneously through all the cells in an upflow direction.  From the moment that the effluent is fed to the first module until it is discharged into the last module, it has to pass through all the cells in all the modules, completing a time cycle during which it is exposed to sunlight. After the first cycle the culture medium is partially recirculated by a pump to the first module of cells and repeats the same path as before.

KEY COMPONENTS

Feeding tank: The purpose of this equipment is to make sure the photo-bioreactor will always have effluent to be fed to the system, even in the periods of time when the WWTP has no discharge of effluent.

Recirculation tank (TM-101): This tank is where the stream coming from the photo-bioreactor is mixed with the inflow. Since the microalgae culture needs a certain retention time and at the same time high velocities inside the tubes, the culture has to be re-circulated in this particular case. To mix the recirculation flow with the inflow, Ecologix Systems has designed a recirculation tank.

Sedimentation tank (S-201): After the necessary retention time (time of exposure to sunlight) the treated effluent (outflow) is discharged by gravity to the sedimentation tank where the biomass is allowed to settle.

Pumps: The system has two pumps, a feeding pump and a recirculation pump. The feeding pump (P-101) feeds the effluent to be treated into the recirculation tank. The recirculation pump (P-102) feeds the photo-bioreactor with the stream coming from the recirculation tank.

Photobioreactor (FR-10x): The effluent to treat is fed to the photo-bioreactor in order to promote photosynthesis. This equipment contains a set of transparent tubes (cells) grouped into units (modules), each unit having a certain number of cells through which the culture medium flows vertically in an up-flow direction. The total number of cells depends on the daily flow of culture medium to be processed.

The photo-bioreactor is design to ensure the necessary flow velocity inside the tubes and in accordance with the daily flow to treat.

Separation Unit: The separation unit is optional in the GreenLine™ system. Different separation units can be used. In this particular case, Ecologix System has chosen an Ultrafiltration module in order to promote the separation between the biomass (microalgae) and the treated effluent.
